for those of you not hip on the music scene "london calling" is a song by the clash - early 80's. "butt" anyway...london did call and it was ian. he's there right now for yahoo. before he left he was sicker than a dog and the day after he left i got his nasty flu bug which he left in our bed - that sounds gross! body aches, raw/sore throat, diahrrrrreeeaa - not so fun. and, the worst of it all isn't that i still had to get up at 6:30 am to make breakfast, lunches and take the kids to school in the rain...it's that i had major nappy hair! you know...where it looks like a big, tangled animals nest thrown to the back of my head! i looked like that for 2 days and then i couldn't stand it anymore. i was pathetic. life's pleasures come in simple packages for mom's - a good, hot shower is all we ask for on some days.
so when "london calling" got a hold of me it was to say that he may have to extend his stay to go to dublin til next week. my coping skills kicked in and i could hear the mall calling me - nordstom, to be exact! then he emailed and said he wasn't gonna go to ireland. i was sad. i really could have used a selfish shopping spree. instead i went to target and splurged on myself - target never makes me feel guilty. seriously, i never have time to go shopping for myself but thank the heavens above for target - am i wrong? half of my wardrobe is from target and i'm proud!
on a more serious note....last night i made contact for the first time with the woman who was the recipient of ian's mom's lungs - as she was an organ donor. i highly recommend and encourage everyone to consider being a donor. it was a remarkable and an amazing experience. her organs made it possible for 4 women to have a second chance at life. the funny thing is that this woman (lisa) even looks like mom! she had sent us a letter a year ago and so did all her family and they told us of her life struggle. mom's lungs reached her within hours of her almost losing her own life. so wonderful. it would be great to hear from the other families too. knowing that a part of her continues to live within the bodies of 4 women is comforting. lisa is so grateful to her too.
Song of the day: "Flood" by Jars of Clay - as it's raining...again - love this song! now go have a "suzy" moment and listen to it.

I love the song of the day thing. I'm gunna have to check them all out. If it makes you feel any better I have a nasty head cold and my husband is working around the clock (doing a new music video) as well. I am right there with you at 6:30 am. Our school is too early sometimes! I'm in solitary confinement for another few days or I would consider getting together and sharing snot stories. Next week!
that is amazing about the organ recipient -- what a great story. i hope ian is home now and life is back to crazy normal. i was just sick this week too -- totally sucks for mom to get sick. the big bummer is now john has it and now i'll just be bitter that he gets to take a couple days off work and lie in bed all day to get better. no "sick days" for moms! i like the shopping spree consolation. amen to the target wardrobe -- where would we be without mossimo and xhileration!
