in our home we believe in fairies. since lauren was a little girl we've written and left notes for the fairies that would always write back and tell us about their secret world. we have lots of fairy books and she used to have a fairy room -
pre-"tween" period. now ethan is infatuated with the idea of fairies and their visits. well, actually, he has been for years. over the years we have made fairy homes but this past week ethan and his friends made a fairy home from some yard art we had out. i found it when i was working in the yard and had to move it to it's now
permanent location. i must admit i'm not sure who has more fun with this task...them or me? i must have spent an hour prepping the future site and pulling out weeds and then moving it all - seeds, berries, and ants-to include some of the findings. i planted mossy grasses and made pathways with rocks and stones. i felt like i was toiling in my own secret garden!
truth be known i love this imaginary little world. it's just me. as i did dishes yesterday and heard ethan's shrills after finding a note that the fairies wrote back to him (shrills because it took those silly fairies 4 days to finally write him back!!! ...i told him they couldn't find the hidden house and he needed to put out some foil for glimmer and reflection from the moonlight to light their way down!!!) ...continuing...i wanted time to freeze as my little ones still hold some innocence and believe in this imaginary world. i know it won't last forever but i wish it would.

on the inside they have made food bowls out of water bottle tops! so clever my little ones!

o.k. so this is a poster i got 2 yrs ago - for the sole purpose of cutting it up to make wall art for the boys room. i love these vintage images.

we only framed the images of the cities and places we've been to.

so i have left over...idaho (cuz they've never been there), alaska (cuz we don't plan on going there!), chicago, and washington. they fit in the 11 x 14 frame size. does anyone want them? let me know. come and get them if you're interested folks. i think they're lovely!
song of the day: "it's a good life"
