which was in march?!?, i finally finished some pillows that i started a year ago! made the white ones from a vintage table cloth that i bought in arizona for $2. sure beats paying $75 each! of course my wonderful friend sharla helped me with most of the sewing! then i made these green with blue balls (poor horny pillows) last week all by myself. my kids wanted to craft too so lauren and ethan made dolls with the left over scraps. it was a fun and creative day for all!
last week we made a most delicious shake. you must try it: vanilla ice cream - like 4 scoops, hershey syrup, a banana, some milk, and trader joes organic "vanana" yogurt (vanana is short for vanilla and banana combined). if you have no trader joes...you're screwed! ooooh, it was soooo good!
yesterday i spent some time alone with my evan. while i was in the shower i heard him running in and out of the bathroom. when i got out he said, "look what i got for you mom while you were in the shower!". ooooh, my heart melted and i grabbed him with my naked, wet body and gave him a hug. i had to take a quick shot to capture the moment. he was so proud! he picked all the flowers from our yard and made such a lovely arrangement!!!!! that's my flower-child!
so, about this blog's title, "married with children"... it certainly wasn't inspired by some mormon woman's vision of blissful living! it was flat out named after the ideal family life drama - "married with children!!!" i remember returning from my mission, in the late 80's, and seeing this most horrid show on. i was horrified at how family life was being depicted. is that a word? of course i had just come home from a mission. i thought it was terrible. i now have a family of my own and although ian is soo not al, and i am sooo not peg, and our kids aren't permiscuous teens....i had a scary vision once. when ian and i were first married we went to palm springs for the weekend. we got there and immediately...went down to the pool. we thought we had it "goin' on" but we so did not. upon removing our t's and shorts i felt all eyes on us. we were whiter than snow, had beer bellies and outdated swim-suits and stuck out like sore thumbs. i said to ian, "we look like al and peg bundy, lets get outta here!" we never returned to that pool. i will never forget that moment. of course i never did anything about it and still look like that but we now hang out at pools where everyone else does too! so this blog is about our most very real married life with very real and wild children. and we wouldn't trade it for the world!
song of the day: "crazy little thing called love" by queen (it's on the playlist below - scroll down and listen.)
