the element of surprise

this is kim neel. one of my dearest friends ever - we were neighbors in georgia and now she lives in florida. this is us 2 yrs ago when lauren and i payed them a visit and had the greatest time ever. we try and stay in touch via email so you can imagine what a surprise it was for me to get a little package in the mail yesterday from kim! she sent me the greatest little package:
all so sweetly wrapped - a book she was so thoughtful to send me to read... and i will kim! also, some purple sea shells because she knows how i love purple, and this great photo of rosemary beach - where they now live. what a package! you so made my week. i have the bestest of friends!
well i have had my eyes on these shoes for 18 mos. so i took the plunge and bought them. i love the metallic antique chambray color! i just couldn't hold out any longer...i'm a sucker for purple.
so my friend allison comes over yesterday and brings me this great swatch of material because she also knows how much i love purple. i love this material. she suggested a pillow sham. that's what i'm thinking too. i'll post the finished result. any other suggestions for this most beautiful fabric?
i can't stop thinking about this silk fabric necklace i saw in london. wish i would have bought it. it was so whimsical and artsy. it was made by this french designer who i can not find here in the states. we can't have it all, right?
lastly, on my way to see my sister i see this wall. i like wall art. it's a nice alternative to the graffiti i grew up around, although, that's still all around. now daisies aren't my favorite but i think the artist did a great job considering the size and scale. we had to stop and flip a "u-e" to go back for this picture.

love the beautiful pics on your blog. and i so loved seeing you last week and wish we could've chatted even more. that girls night was just what i needed! i thought about you as i ate my pasadena chicken salad from tj's today. oh so good. your kids are too cute in the photos below -- that lauren is way too grown up. and i'm jealous of those fun art classes. can i come back please? hope you survive ian's trip. love you!
